Data Scientist
After studying Geography at the University of Waterloo and Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Windsor, Lauren gained experience working in the technology consulting industry. Later, going on to teach webinars on data science and GIS in R. However, Lauren’s primary interest lies at the intersection of wildlife, the environment, and human health, which led her to join Sparkgeo in July 2021.
As the team lead of our Data Science team, Lauren appreciates Sparkgeo’s ability to continuously develop skills and work with geospatial data in the cloud. She is passionate about open-source development, community building, and the accessibility of spatial data. With countless geospatial industries and problems to solve, there is always something fascinating to work on.
Lauren’s childhood curiosity, which revolved around constantly asking “why,” never waned, and it has transformed her into the data detective we know today. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring local trails and nature areas that possess unique ecological characteristics.
