Everyone's path to geospatial is different. Parmvir started his career as a cook, but couldn’t shake his interest in web development. He earned a Bachelor of Applied Science, in Materials Engineering, at the University of British Columbia. He studied at Lighthouse Labs, which helped him transition to his new vocation. After graduation, he joined Sparkgeo in November 2017 as a software engineer.
Today, he continues to take courses, to expand his knowledge of new technologies. Parmvir works remotely from outside Vancouver. He’s fond of the company’s work philosophy and people. He explains that at Sparkgeo, staff are given room to get their work done. This results in an easy-going environment, where staff are free to focus on the task at hand. Parmvir credits Sparkgeo’s management for providing staff with the tools they need to succeed. This access to online courses makes Sparkgeo a great learning environment.
A shy child, Parmvir spent as much time as he could outside. He still enjoys cooking and watching sports. (His recall of hockey history is uncanny.)
