After working for six years at Tantalus Systems, Tom joined Sparkgeo in May 2020, eager to enhance his knowledge, skills, and abilities. He works remotely from Smither and believes that with enough time and a curious mindset, almost anything can be learned. Tom uses workflow modeling and thought experiments to minimize ambiguity and enjoys collaborating with his talented and motivated colleagues at Sparkgeo to solve intriguing geospatial challenges.

Once, a couple of adolescent grizzly bears charged at Tom in a remote location, an experience he never wants to repeat. Tom enjoys skiing, hiking, canoeing, fishing, hunting, running, cycling, and volunteering with Search and Rescue when he’s not at his computer.
